At WISPAD, we believe in promoting diverse voices and leveraging creative expressions to advocate for positive change.  We invite you to join our community dedicated to amplifying women’s voices and addressing the issues around security, peace and diplomacy which resonate with our diverse readership.

The magazine which is published quarterly is focused on creating its contents based on the four pillars of the Women Peace and Security agenda. These four pillars cover the four issues of the magazine; The Prevention Issue; The Participation/Representation Issue; The Protection Issue; and the Relief and Recovery Issue. Hence your contribution MUST revolve around any of these issues.

Your unique perspective and creative contributions have the potential to influence and inspire, contributing to the ongoing dialogue surrounding women’s agency in the security sector and beyond. We are excited to explore the very many ways your work can contribute to our mission.

Please carefully review the following submission guidelines before entrusting us with your creative endeavours. These guidelines are designed to ensure alignment with our vision, maintain the quality of our content, and uphold the standards of inclusivity and relevance that WISPAD stands for.

Content Relevance:

Ensure your submission aligns with the magazine’s vision of promoting women’s agency in the security sector and is focusing on topics that reflects any of the issues. We seek content that resonates with the diverse readership and addresses relevant issues as explained above.

 

Originality and Exclusivity:

We only accept original and previously unpublished works. Simultaneous submissions to other publications are not allowed. If your submission is accepted, we will retain exclusive rights to publish it for some time.

Submission Format:

Articles should be submitted in a Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx). Calibri Font and 11 font size. Please provide high-resolution images in JPEG or PNG format for photography and artwork.

Word Count (for Articles):

  • Feature stories: 600 to 800 words
  • Educative series: 800 to 1200 words
  • Poems: 500 to 700 words

 

Photography and Artwork:

  • Images submitted for consideration should be high-resolution (at least 300 dpi) and accompanied by a brief description and any necessary credits.

 

Inclusivity and Diversity:

  • We value diverse perspectives and experiences. Submissions should embrace inclusivity and represent women’s voices from various backgrounds and communities.

 

Multiple Submissions:

  • You may submit multiple works for consideration, but each submission should be sent separately.

Attribution and Credits:

Properly cite all sources and provide the necessary credits for quotes, statistics, and external content referenced in your submission. Include links where necessary.

 

Copyright and Usage:

By submitting your work, you grant WISPAD the non-exclusive right to publish and display your content across our print and digital platforms. You retain the copyright to your work and may republish it elsewhere after its initial publication with us.

Compensation:

At this time, we do not offer monetary compensation for external submissions. However, selected contributors will receive appropriate attribution and exposure to our vast readership.

 

Response Time:

We aim to respond to all submissions within [2] weeks. If you have yet to receive a response within this timeframe, you are welcome to inquire about the status of your submission.
