Call for Submission

Women in Security, Peace and Diplomacy (WISPAD) Magazine

WISPAD Magazine is a publication of the Women in Security, Peace and Diplomacy Network, an initiative of Impact Her World Foundation. The magazine publication is an attempt to amplify the voices, experiences and achievements of women in the peace, security and diplomacy as well as shaping policies and advancing the WPS agenda in Africa leveraging findings from the field.

The magazine equally portrays a unique representation of the different challenges and struggles of women and girls across different conflict settings. By spotlighting unspoken issues and zooming on policy deficiencies, the resource seeks to provide evidence- based recommendation for effective actualisation of the UNSCR 1325

  1. Relevance and Focus

Submissions must align with the WISPAD’s current magazine’s core themes include:  

  1. Protection of people with disability in conflict
  2. Conflict and child widowhood
  3. Post-Conflict Trauma Healing (story-telling)
  4. Religion, Women, and Conflict

Articles should offer original insights, evidence-based analysis, or compelling stories related to women, peace, and security.

  1. Article Length and Format

Feature articles: 1000–1,200 words

Opinion/editorials: 800–1,000 words

Personal narratives or field reports: 1,000–1,500 words

Submissions must be typed in Microsoft Word, using 12-point Times New Roman, double-spaced, with clearly marked headings and subheadings.

  1. In-text Citations

Where applicable, authors should cite sources of statistical data/information used in article for the purpose of validity (e.g. Any UN agency, CIA etc.).

  1. Originality and Plagiarism

All articles must be original, with minimal use of AI writing tools, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. Submissions will be screened for plagiarism, and any plagiarized work will be automatically rejected.

  1. Author Bio and Photo

Authors must include a short bio (maximum 100 words) with their full name, professional affiliation, and a high-resolution headshot (JPEG or PNG). Authors are encouraged to disclose if they have lived experience or professional involvement related to the topic.
